Disney+ App Not Working on iPhone or iPad? Here’s How to Fix

Macos

There could be several reasons for the Disney+ app not working on your iPhone or iPad. Some of the most common issues include bad internet connection, server issues, outdated software, and incompatible device. We’re going to take a look at each of these issues and include fixes for them.

Quick Access:

Restart Your iOS Devices

The first thing you should do is to restart your iPhone or iPad. This is the easiest thing to do, and may potentially fix problems with the Disney+ app. Hold down the Power button on your iOS device till you see ‘Slide to Power Off‘ slider. Turn off your iPhone or iPad and wait for 10-15 seconds before switching it on again.

If you are using iPhone X and later, you need to hold the Power button and then the Volume Up button to shut down the device.

A simple restart could fix the issue and you should be able to watch your favourite Disney show again. If this didn’t work, then try out the next fix.

Update Disney+ App on iPhone or iPad

Make sure that you’re using the latest version of the Disney+ app on your iPhone or iPad. If not, head over to the App Store and check if any updates are available in the Updates section. Disney has released several updates to the Disney+ app, so it is very likely that you may not have the latest version on your device. Install any available updates and check if the app works.

Check Internet Connection

You should also check your internet connection since a bad connection will definitely stop the Disney+ app from working properly. Open the internet browser and check whether websites are loading. If not, then you may be connected to the wrong network or there could be something wrong with the connection. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and tap on Wi-Fi settings. Turn off Wi-Fi and turn it back on after about 10 seconds. Also, if you’re facing streaming issues with the Disney+ app, then you may want to move closer to the Wi-Fi router.

If there’s a problem with the internet service provider, then you should switch to Mobile Data. Check if the app is working on Mobile Data. Turn off the Wi-Fi via the Settings app and switch on Mobile Data. However, remember that you might deplete your data if you stream too much. If Disney+ works fine on the data connection, then you will need to fix your Wi-Fi connection.

Close and Refresh Disney Plus App Using App Switcher

You might want to try and refresh the Disney+ app if things aren’t working fine. Launch the App Switcher on your iPhone or iPad and then close the app. On older iPhones, double tap the Home button to bring up the app switcher. Newer iPhones and iPads don’t have a Home button. If you’re using an iPhone or iPad without a Home button, then swipe up from the bottom and hold to view the app switcher. Now you can close the Disney+ app. Launch the app again to check if it starts to work.

Uninstall and Reinstall Disney+ App

Uninstall the Disney+ app and reinstall it again to check if the problem is fixed. Hold the app icon on your iPhone or iPad till the app starts to wiggle. Now tap on the ‘x’ button to uninstall the app. Head over to the App Store and search for Disney+ to reinstall the app.

Check Updates for iPhone or iPad

It is also possible that your iPhone or iPad doesn’t support the Disney+ app. Check if a new software update is available for your iOS device and install the update. To check for updates, open the Settings app and navigate to GeneralSoftware Update. Some older iPhones and iPads aren’t compatible with the Disney+ app.

That’s all folks!

Conclusion

There you are. Those are some of the fixes that you can try if your Disney+ app isn’t working on iPhone or iPad. If neither of these has fixed the problem, then it is likely that Disney’s servers are down. We suggest that you wait for some time and try again.

Just purchased the 65SM8100AUALG Nano 8 series. When I tried to install Disney Plus the TV needed software upgrade, which it did to 4.70.03 and then downloaded the Disney Plus app, but when starting the app, can't log in or exit. None of the buttons on the screen will work? Any solutions?

Set the DNS in network tab to 8.8.8.8 and Disney plus started working. Only that app had issues, netflix/youtube/hulu all worked fine.

Just set up my 65' CX and having the same issue. Sign-in buttons are unresponsive on screen, so can't even get in. Updated to latest firmware. All other apps/streaming services work fine. Very frustrating. Get it together, LG!

Having a similar issue. 55UH7700 purchased in 2017. All other streaming seems fine. Not getting an error message, for Disney+, but just an endlessly spinning circle. Any suggestions?

I recently purchased an OLED65C9PUA that came with one year of Disney+. Have been able to set up Disney account and access through the app - but only shows 7 Day free trial before payments begin?? Anyone know how to access the one year free?

I spent 45 min with Disney chat trying to resolve this. Stayed with me through several updates on tv and testing several different methods. Great help but couldn't resolve issue. After sending an email to LG (and before getting a response) I change the DNS in connection details to auto detect and I also turned IP6 off. That solved it and I can stream now. (I was getting drmLicenseRequestFailed)
    Hope this helps

I also have this problem on my new C9 65”. In the Disney+ app, none of the buttons on the initial screen (sign up/sign in) work, and even when attempting to cancel you can’t because the Exit button doesn’t event work on the confirmation screen (I found one way to exit is to hold down the back button for a couple of seconds).
I’ve tried restarting, and even deleting the app and reinstalling it. And I have the latest OS. Anybody have any idea how to fix this? I’m able to stream it from my iPhone to the TV but I’d prefer to use the app on the TV itself...
